Moisturised Poppin Curls

Lovies, Do you want curls that  pop??? Then follow these simple steps. 1) No deep-conditioning is too much for your moisture craving hair type. So Shoot for a treatment once or twice per week. 2) To make your curls even happier, apply the deep conditioner while you're in the shower allowing the steam to help seal in the moisture. 3) Work the conditioner through the coils, avoiding your roots and concentrating on the ends. 4) Rinse with cool water and leave in a bit of conditioner to protect and coat each strand. There you have it. Curls galore......

Leave and go !!!

The key to maintaining moisture in natural hair is a great leave in conditioner. Mixtress J has an amazing leave in conditioner that works wonderssssss for your hair. Then there's the Irish Moss and my oh my, its a wonderful product that keeps the hair moisturized by only using a small amount rubbed in the palm of your hands and massaged into your hair. I swear by it. It also has a great scent and works well to fight the frizz on those humid days. This thing is sooo good that you can use it as a "wash and go" with no product build up.  Trust meh

Natural styles for short, medium and long hair

·         Pinterest, The Cutlife and Youtube are my go to spots for hairstyles when I want a change. Be creative and explore your options dare to be different and make people go wow I love her hairdo! Cornrows, twists, updos and puffs are the more popular styles with sooo much versatility you’re gonna want to try them all out. Flat twists with rubber bands or hair clips are perfect for those gals with short hair.   Even twisting your entire head rock it for a couple days then release those coils and transform into a new you!

My big decision

Well ya girl walked into a store to try on some wigs as I didn't know what else to do with my hair. First wig made me look like I was wearing a scooter helmet😆. I eventually found one that suited me because combing my hair wasn't an option anymore. I was literally fed up. I clipped off the relaxed ends and rocked the hell out of my wig. I totally slayed it. Lols. But then, the big decision came. To chop or not to chop, and boy was I scared. I took a whole two days contemplating what to do. Guess what I did. Yup !!! off it came 😂

Trial and Error

Natural hair is beautiful and as such women go to great lengths to maintain their precious tresses. Finding the "right product" isn't an easy task and we must go thru the trial and error phase. We can research and resort to "YouTube"for advice, which can be a plus and thus you're now able to maintain a hair care regime that's personally suited towards your specific needs. The natural hair journey can be a tedious one, but the most important thing to do is understand your hair type. Life's going to be a breeze knowing hair maintenance just got wayyyy easier.

Trying times

Oh how my transition process was terriblllllle!!. From spending time using rods at night and waking up to a catastrophe in the morning. My hairstyles never came out the way I wanted them to look because the roots and ends were two different textures. I tried flat ironing to help manage it, capital D for disaster! I tried all kinds of cheap oils from Pennywise and they clearly didn't work, I was even more fraustrated and didn't know what else to do. The only hairstyle that really worked for me was finger coils and twist outs. What worked for you? Drop me a line or two 😉😉

Frizz's

Taking care of your tresses can be really time consuming! We admire other women not knowing or even realizing that it takes time and effort. Our hair textures vary and as such our routines would not be the same. Whether your mane is short, medium or long upkeep is crucial if you live a very active lifestyle. Especially considering that we live in a tropical climate which equals frizziness. How can we escape that frizz after that perfect beach day at Maracas. That deep conditioner better be on standby else you’ll end up walking around like a frizz ball in these streets.

Bed Time

Castor oil, shea butter and oil olive just to name a few are perfect for use in hair before going to bed. Tying with a silk scarf is ideal for locking in that moisture which not only protects it but also stimulates growth whilst we’re on the clouds. It can be rather frustrating having dry hair and scalp as a naturalista. Therefore we can’t stop stressing on that magic word called “moisturize”! Once you have grasped the concept on how to ideally moisturize, your tresses would be a whole lot more manageable.

Controlling your Fro

Oooooh I love my afro!!!! But geez, sometimes I can't control it because my hair is soooo thick! Maintaining your hair isn't just about the products that we use but the lifestyle we live. Sometimes we lose patience in trying to figure out what to do. Having that healthy fro comes with a lot of care but starting with the basics such as drinking water can work wonders. Washing at least once a week helps prevent product build-up and retains moisture! Because nobody wants to be the smelly hair girl!!! Sooo ladies maintenance is verrrrry important. Can I get an Amen ?

Spice it up!!!

Sometimes I feel as though I'm running out of options. There are times I wanna be a curly sue but my curls don't last long. It's quite frustrating when I use rods and my curls aren't defined. You can be trendy and adventurous by doing a Mohawk whilst switching it up with a fro or even curls. Sooo depending on your hair texture you can rock that fro by dressing it up with hair bands or pins. Options may not be very vast but you don't have to be boring and rock one hairstyle as a natural girl. Spice it up chicas.

My fav natural hair poducts

·         Girlies we have to pay careful attention to the ingredients in all the products that we use. Whether it be a drugstore brand or high-end some of these companies are sooo sneaky! They change the active ingredients and the slightest change can have a negative effect. Not all shampoos and conditioners are created equally. However, a co wash might be ideal from Eden or As I Am. When you’re through with washing be sure to moisturize with your favorite moisturizer.      But if you’re a true naturalista like me then you would only swear by oils!

2 easy Day to Night Natural Hairstyles

·                   Ladies don’t we just love to have that versatility when styling our natural hair!! Styling your hair can be quite a tedious task especially on mornings. Wearing a protective style can stimulate growth but it may not be the “in thing”. Some of us swear by braids whilst others are just clueless about what to do. So many styles available online and via social media but if you don’t have the technique a girl could be out here looking a mess!!! Whether your hair is long, short, fine or thick you’ve got to figure out a way to style it.

Popular Natural Hair brands

Shea moisture, Aunty Jackie,Cantu and Carol's daughter are some of the most popular brands that women of color use on their natural hair. Some products can either work for you,as well as against you. Trying out different products can sometimes end up being  very costly. I have personally tried Shea moisture to help put moisture back into my already dry hair and it just made it worse 😢. My hopes were really high but I ended up being soooo disappointed. That meant, on to the next product, and the dry hair struggle continues. So many products to choose from and yet some are just marketing gimmicks. Happy choosing !!!!!
