10 Do's and Don'ts for transitioning to natural hair

Hey ladies, wanna  transition to natural hair without complications? 😊 then follow these 10 Do's and Don'ts.

1 .
Do not use chemicals
Its the obvious, but must be said, do not relax your hair, this damages your hair and over time, your hair will lose its elasticity and strength.

2.
Don't apply  heat to your hair
Drop the heat, stay away from hair dryers, curling irons etc. heat damages natural hair.

3.
Don't  shampoo with sulphate.
Sulphate removes all natural hair oils leaving it dry and prone to breakage.
4. Do use fingers to detangle.
Use plenty conditioner to detangle your hair with your fingers. Your fingers move easier than a comb.

 5.
 Do Trim
You must trim off the relaxed ends of your hair gradually two inches every month, this will prevent split ends causing damage to your new growth.

6.
Do deep condition regularly

OMG!!! This is a must  !!! You can’t starve your hair. This is like food for your hair. Apply deep conditioner of your choice and leave for 30 mins.

7
.  Do  sleep with a satin pillowcase
Satin pillowcases do not absorb the oils from your hair.

8.
 Be patient !!!
Natural Hair is  process, relax and let your hair do its thing.

9.
Do be prepared-
Have your basic tools; rat tail combs, bobby pins, detangling combs and shower cap.

10.
Do change your routine
Be prepared to switch things up a bit.

Leave and go !!!

The key to maintaining moisture in natural hair is a great leave in conditioner. Mixtress J has an amazing leave in conditioner that works wonderssssss for your hair. Then there's the Irish Moss and my oh my, its a wonderful product that keeps the hair moisturized by only using a small amount rubbed in the palm of your hands and massaged into your hair. I swear by it. It also has a great scent and works well to fight the frizz on those humid days. This thing is sooo good that you can use it as a "wash and go" with no product build up.  Trust meh

My big decision

Well ya girl walked into a store to try on some wigs as I didn't know what else to do with my hair. First wig made me look like I was wearing a scooter helmetπŸ˜†. I eventually found one that suited me because combing my hair wasn't an option anymore. I was literally fed up. I clipped off the relaxed ends and rocked the hell out of my wig. I totally slayed it. Lols. But then, the big decision came. To chop or not to chop, and boy was I scared. I took a whole two days contemplating what to do. Guess what I did. Yup !!! off it came πŸ˜‚

Popular Natural Hair brands

Shea moisture, Aunty Jackie,Cantu and Carol's daughter are some of the most popular brands that women of color use on their natural hair. Some products can either work for you,as well as against you. Trying out different products can sometimes end up being  very costly. I have personally tried Shea moisture to help put moisture back into my already dry hair and it just made it worse 😒. My hopes were really high but I ended up being soooo disappointed. That meant, on to the next product, and the dry hair struggle continues. So many products to choose from and yet some are just marketing gimmicks. Happy choosing !!!!!
